Ngatia Tell Off Rivals Over Smear Campaigns
Nairobi, Tuesday 29th March, 2022: Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) president Richard Ngatia has appealed to Kenyans to stop criminalising businesses which put their foot forward in helping the government fight the unprecedented Corononavirus outbreak.
Speaking today during the Gerald Bitok “The Tackle” live morning shoe that was broadcasted live on facebook, Ngatia said that his company Megascope Healthcare solutions stepped in to support the government fight the pandemic at a time when governments around the world had no iota of idea on how to tackle the pandemic and deserved accolades not condemnation.
Ngatia blamed political opponents for the continued criticism on his involvement with government agencies to save lives noting that they only lack an agenda to sell to the electorate and have resulted to smear campaigns.
“I want to appeal to Kenyans I general to stop criminalising businesses that came in to assist the government when the covid 19 pandemic struck,” Ngatia said.
“There are many companies that came in to work with governments all over the world. In Kenya, more than 120 companies worked with KEMSA to provide the proper equipment for fighting the disease. In other countries, such companies are heroes but in Kenya, we are labelled Covid billionaires. It is appalling,” the Nairobi gubernatorial aspirant said.
Nagtia explained that it was the prerogative of governments around the globe to work with private entities in saving lives and his firm was at the center of the life saving mission by providing the correct personal protective equipment.
“When the pandemic hit, no government had ever witnessed such a challenge. We all had to work together. We have to stop criminalising private businesses because we had more than 10 companies that worked with KEMSA. Megascope healthcare provided equipment to KEMSA and private entities like The Aga Khan University Hospital and the Nairobi Hospitals as well as the hospitality sector like hotels but nobody will tell you that,” He said.
Ngatia said that getting it right was the solution for dealing with the novel covid 19 disease and Kenya had to protect its population which meant that everyone in the health sector had to be brought on board.
He told off competitors using his trade deals with KENSA in providing medical equipment saying that they should tell Nairobians what they intend to do for Nairobi and not wasting time in smear campaigns.
“We have spent more than two hours in this interview discussing issues but if you invite my competitors, you will not spend more than five minutes because they have no agenda to sell apart from propaganda and smear campaigns,” He said.
Ngatia has in the recent past embarked on a campaign to encourage a clean brand of politics.
